Meet the Team.
Walter has extensive experience working in development projects and programs in the Northern Region of Uganda throughout the years. He has excellent knowledge of the local governance systems in the region - knowledge he first started harnessing during his time as a Sub-County Supervisor with the Electoral Commission. Walter also has strong experience working in youth initiatives: he has previously worked as a Field Officer for the Northern Uganda Youth Development Program and as a Project Officer with CAP Uganda and VSO Youth Development Program.
As HANDLE's Project Officer, Walter is currently dedicated full-time to coordinating activities related to our GBV Project, serving as the key figure of the organization when interfacing with local government officials in Nwoya, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with our direct and indirect beneficiaries. He also provides counsel to families in the target region regarding land dispute issues and refers GBV cases to our Case Manager.
Walter holds a Diploma in Secondary Education. He is currently completing his Bachelor's in Psychology in order to become a counsellor.
Stephen brings his strengths to our team from previous experience as a project officer for CAP(u) in partnership with War Child Canada. His main area of focus during this time was to support activities for a peace building project in the Kiryandongo refugee settlement in central Uganda.
We are so fortunate to have Stephen with us to serve as Project Officer for our Sponsorship program. Stephen works to coordinate our students and acts as a mentor to encourage them to continue with them studies, as well as taking care of all of the administrative management details with the schools. He also supports evaluation activities for the GBV project and aids community mobilization for events.
Stephen holds a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, all things football, and listening to music.
